C3 (DC construction sets)

A new product line for Art Asylum for 2004 is C3, which stands for Construct, Customize, Conquer.

C3 sets combine the MiniMates block figures with building block construction pieces - the MiniMates will have peg holes in their feet so that they can be displayed on the building blocks, and each piece will be compatible with "the leading brand of building block toys."

The first two licenses for the C3 sets are Batman and Justice League. As with any type of construction toy, there are different sizes of sets with different price points. The suggested retail price point for the sets with two figures and a small vehicle is $9.99. The suggested retail price point for the sets with just one figure and a larger vehicle is $19.99. The suggested retail price point for the Batcave is $49.99. As with all things, this is subject to change, so those prices might be lower or higher once the toys are in stores.

The planned sets for the Batman product line are:

• Batglider with Batman and Catwoman
• Mini Batmobile with Batman and Robin
• Batwing with Pilot Batman
• Batmobile with Batman
• Batcave with Mega Batman Armor, Bruce Wayne, and the Joker

The Alfred MiniMate shown in the Batcave (in the image below, 3rd column, 2nd row) will not be included in the Batcave set, although Art Asylum does intend to release him. The details on that should be finalized later in 2004. The Batcave set will include a "kit" to convert the Bruce Wayne figure into Batman - the kit is the extra pieces needed to turn Bruce's tuxedo into a Batsuit.

The planned sets for the Justice League product line are:

• Superman vs Darkseid Throne Room
• The Joker vs Batman Chemical Warehouse Playset
• Javelin 7 with the Flash

The Javelin 7 will seat four figures, but will only come with the Flash. If you look closely in one of the images below, you can see that the Flash has an extra piece for his hair.

A few disclaimers... Not all of the C3 sets and figures shown below are planned for release in 2004: some of them are for 2005 (Lex Luthor, the Batcopter, Hawkgirl, the Martian Manhunter), but were on display to show the breadth of the product line. Some of the colors seen here will be adjusted as the products are finalized.
