TRU.com: The Big Boy Gets Bigger

trulogo.jpg - 11482 BytesToysrus.com, a leading online retailer of children's toys and products on the Internet, today announced that the company has recently hired four key executives in the areas of logistics, finance, information technology, and customer service. These professionals bring over seventy years of combined experience in high technology, retail, and consumer products to the senior management team of Toysrus.com.

``Our number one objective in 2000 is to strengthen our infrastructure,'' said Jonathan Foster, chief operating officer of Toysrus.com. ``These professionals all have superb proven track records in areas that are going to be key to our long term success. While many Internet companies are downsizing right now, we are committed to investing and building for future growth.''

Michael Blancone will become the new vice president - chief logistics officer responsible for the Company's three fulfillment facilities and all logistics for the nearly two million square feet of distribution capacity. He has almost thirty years of operations experience under his belt managing high volume distribution functions with some of the world's top manufacturers. Prior to Toysrus.com he was vice president of operations/MIS at Reebok's Greg Norman Division where he handled worldwide production management, transportation, and quality control. During his career he also has served as senior vice president in the areas of operations and logistics for Calvin Klein, American Express, Dawson Home Fashions, and Charles of the Ritz.

Ray Arthur has been named vice president of finance and administration. Arthur has nearly twenty years of experience in operations, finance and accounting with large multi-national, multi-billion dollar corporations. Before joining Toysrus.com he was vice president, corporate controller, and chief accounting officer at Toys R Us, Inc. and prior to that with General Signal Corporation. Arthur brings an extensive background in operational administration, financial accounting and reporting, mergers and acquisitions, audit, and many other aspects of corporate finance.

As new vice president of information technology, Jim Brownell will be responsible for managing IT for the rapidly expanding distribution and fulfillment network of Toysrus.com. Brownell spent the last nineteen years at The Gap where he last served as corporate vice president overseeing distribution, global retail systems, and electronic commerce and catalog systems. There, he managed a staff of 300 computer professionals responsible for development and support of nine distribution centers (five international); 2,500 retail stores; and three electronic retail divisions.

David Braxton has been appointed the new vice president of customer service. Prior to Toysrus.com he spent more than seven years at American Express. Most recently, he was the vice president of customer service and sales where he managed and developed strategies for one of three major AMEX service centers in the U.S. Braxton was responsible for supervising over 1,300 people and accountable for serving over 20 million card members.

``Toysrus.com's long term plan is to become the leading online kid and family e-commerce destination in the world,'' added Foster. `` We believe these world class executives will help us achieve that goal.''

In the face of recent industry downsizing, Toysrus.com continues to buck trends by growing and investing in its infrastructure. In April, Toysrus.com announced plans to triple its fulfillment capacity, to 1.9 million square feet, by opening distribution centers in Mira Loma, CA and Chambersburg, Pa in addition to its existing Memphis, TN facility. The Company also recently finalized plans to open bi-coastal offices in New Jersey and California and is forecasting the employee base to more than double in the next year.

Toysrus.com is a leading Internet retailer for toys and children's products. Toysrus.com combines one of the world's most recognizable brands with unparalleled expertise in the toy and children's industry. Offering thousands of toys online, Toysrus.com provides customers with a fun-filled shopping experience featuring a wide selection of popular and hot products.
