dz_drago_dactyl.jpg - 11918 BytesBandai first released their DinoZaurs brand of transforming action figures in the U.S. last year where the line has been enjoying solid success. 2000, however, looks to be the year for the property to really break out and make a name for itself with the fall debut of the Dinozaurs animated series on Fox Kids.

Bandai describes the Dinozaurs series this way:

The Dinozaurs animated television series follows the saga of the Dinozaurs battle against the evil Dragozaurs. The Dinozaurs, a group of ancient dinosaurs displayed in museums, are brought back to life to protect the earth from the Dragozaurs, who invade the planet to steal all of the "life spirit" and destroy the world. Through teamwork with a group of chosen kids, the Dinozaurs battle to save Earth from destruction.

Of course, to support the series Bandai has a full range of new additions to the DinoZaurs toyline planned for release this year.

There are several product categories planned for the line: 5" Action Feature Dinozaurs (non-transforming), 6.5" Deluxe Transforming Dinozaurs,Ultimate Dinozaur Action Feature Sets and Role-Play items.

The Ultimate Dinozaur Action Feature Set includes one 8" Ultra Dinozaur and two 4.5" Dinozaurs; one 6.5" Dinozaur and an 8" Dinozaur or one 9" Ultra Dinozaur and one 4.5" Dinozaur. The Dinozaurs in each set can be combined to create all new characters.

Role play items planned include the Dino T-Rex DinoDagger and the Dino Brachio DinoDagger.

"Bandai hopes that the unique combination of transformational play and prehistoric figures will continue to fascinate kids," said Brian Goldner, chief operating officer at Bandai America. "We're looking foward to continued growth with the Dinozaurs line as we work with Fox Kids Network to extend the brand."

Look for all-new Dinozaurs product to be in stores this fall in time for the launch of the animated series.
