Wherefore Art Thou, O' Krofft Superstars?

krofft_logo.gif - 6401 Byteslt_hrpufnstuf.jpg - 5706 BytesMany figure fans, especially those in their late 20's to mid-30's, were thrilled to see Living Toys Krofft Superstars action figure line which debuted at Toy Fair 1999. Classic characters like H.R. Pufnstuf, Cling and Clang, Sigmund (from Sigmund and the Sea Monsters) and Electra-Woman (who was portrayed by a young pre-Days of Our Lives Diedre Hall) were becoming action figures after 25 years!

The fate of this toyline is one of the questions we are asked most here at the RTM Offices, and we went straight to the source to find out. Earlier this week, RTM spoke with Living Toys president, Hugo Stevenson and we're told that the Kroft line is still a go, and expected in stores in April. They will be shown again at Toy Fair, but what's shown this time will be the final production pieces - not prototypes.

A second lineup will be on display as well, featuring Witchie-Poo and other familiar characters from the Krofft stable. Whether the second assortment ever becomes a reality is dependent on the performance of the first series. If the collector interest level is any indication, these figures should be a big hit.

Living Toys promises several exciting new announcements at Toy Fair, including a debut of their rock music figure line as well as some other nifty surprises. We can't say any more for now, but you'll get the full scoop in RTM's live Toy Fair coverage next month.
