Toybiz and Diamond Comics announce
Marvel Legends 5.5!

“The “.5” series will be a new,
direct to comic shop assortment so that Marvel’s core fan base can get some of
the obscure characters they have been asking for, but might not sell so well
in mass retail” said Jesse Falcon, in an interview with RTM’s President Luthor.
“Many of these figures will repaints or reworks of molds we already have on
hand. For example, U-Man is based on the original Wolverine figure. He’s a
classic Invaders villain, but Walmart isn’t going to sell a toy with a
swastika on it’s belt!” When asked why he chose some of the rest of the
characters for the set, he had this to say “Well, Movie Kingpin and Baron
Struker are figures we really wanted to do for the mass retail line, but they
are bald and (as we’ve seen with the X-Men movie Professor X) bald figures
tend to warm the pegs. Deathlok is going to have his own movie from Marvel
Studios soon, but his previous figure for our early 90’s 5” line is still
haunting the aisles in some areas! Finally, Black Bolt goes with the new
Fantastic Four box set we
have coming up, but he is really
unknown to the general toy buying market.” When asked if we can expect more
“.5” assortments in the future Falcon added “Well, if the support is good for
thesel…it will continue. We’d like to do a 6.5 with other classic Marvel
villains like Woodgod, Dr.Nemesis, Kangaroo
2, Stiltman, or the Peace Monger!”
