Art Asylum Working On X-Men Movie Collectibles

artasylumxmenlogo.gif - 7791 BytesThe Art Asylum has partnered with Collectible Concepts to design items for the X-Men movie due out later this year. We spoke with Art Asylum Director, Digger about what they have in store for X-fans.

"I've always wanted to do a line of Marvel related props. Kind of like the Icons stuff, but more affordable. I think that Marvel has some of the most identifiable 'objects' in the comic book world. And even though the stuff we are doing for the X-Men movie isn't exactly like the comics, it's the next best thing" said Digger.

One of the items planned include Cyclops' Ruby Quartz Visor: The prototype is a dead on likeness of the movie prop according to Digger. And best of all, it's a functional piece with real light-up action.

"We have worked out several different ways to make the piece light up and are in the process of deciding which one looks and works best" said Digger.

The Art Asylum has also developed Magneto's helmet and Wolverine's skeletal arm with adamantium claws. Both of these pieces will come in life-size and desktop versions.

Another piece currently in development is Cerebro's Helmet as worn by Patrick Stewart (portraying Professor Charles Xavier in the movie). They are still working on final designs for this piece.

Digger didn't rule out the possibility of even more cool products from the movie, but he stated that he wanted to keep the number of items lower at first so that he could ensure the quality of each. From the looks of things, X-Men fans will have a lot of reasons to be happy when these products show up later this year!
