McDonald's Reminder: Madame Alexander & Matchbox
As a collector in the month following the giant Disney promotion at McDonald's, you may have eaten more Happy Meals than you care to admit. However, we'd like to remind you that McDonald's is currently featuring miniature Madame Alexander dolls as well as Matchbox vehicles. (This promotion runs from April 5th to April 25th: see the press release from earlier this month for more details as well as pictures of the toys. This is the first time that either Matchbox or Madame Alexander has been featured at McDonald's.)
Two things make this Happy Meal promotion different: (1) the six Matchbox vehicles in this promotion are part of the "Matchbox® Across America 50th Birthday" collection, so if you want the vehicles from every state, you'll want to get these six; and (2) the Madame Alexander dolls in the promotion are a bit nicer than the average fast food premium.
Kelly, mini-Barbie®, Cool Cathy
Several Buzz forum posters have mentioned how nice these dolls are, but for anyone who hadn't seen these yet, we offer pictures for you to see... the dolls have rooted hair, cloth outfits, and "sleep eyes" (eyes which close when the doll is laid flat). The Madame Alexander doll shown in the picture above is #6, "Cool Cathy." As you can see, she is a heftier doll than the Barbie® miniatures which have been featured at McDonald's in past years, as well as being larger than even a Kelly® doll. Cool Cathy has a neck twist, and shoulder and hip joints.

In addition to Cool Cathy, the Madame Alexander promotion includes:
- Little Red Riding Hood
- Peter Pan
- the Hispanic 100th Anniversary Teddy Bear Doll
- Caucasian and African-American versions of "Memories of a Lifetime" Bride and Groom
