Toys for Tots Partners With Pier 1 Imports

Toys for Tots Partners With Pier 1 Imports to Bring Cheer to Children

Customers Can Donate Toys and Cash at All Pier 1 Locations in the U.S. and at the Company's Official Pier 1 Facebook Fan Page

FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov 8, 2010 -- Toys for Tots announced today its first official fundraising campaign with Pier 1 Imports to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. The fundraising campaign officially began November 1 in Pier 1 Imports stores nationwide and runs through December 24, 2010.

During the holiday, new and unwrapped toys will be collected now through December 5 at Pier 1 Imports locations across the country. Toys will be distributed to children in the communities where they are donated. Monetary donations will be accepted at all Pier 1 Imports locations through December 24. Additionally, during the month of November, Pier 1 will donate $1 for every person that "likes" Pier 1 Imports' Facebook page, up to $100,000, at Facebook.com/Pier1.

"With over 14 million children living in poverty in this nation alone, Toys for Tots is grateful for partners like Pier 1 Imports," says William J. Grein USMC (Ret), Vice President of Marketing and Development for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. "The gifts we collect will deliver the magic of the Christmas holiday season to less fortunate children in Pier 1 communities nationwide."

"We are pleased to offer our customers a variety of different ways to donate to this deserving cause. This year's holiday theme at Pier 1 is called Cheer 1 Imports(TM), and we can't think of a better way to bring cheer to local communities than by partnering with Toys for Tots to provide less fortunate children with a new toy this holiday," says Alex W. Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pier 1 Imports. "Toys for Tots is a wonderful organization, and we are happy to be able to give back to all the communities in which our customers and associates live and work."

Pier 1 Holiday Collection

This year's holiday assortment contains a broad array of unique and affordable decor, furniture, gifts and everything you need for hosting or attending this season's holiday parties. The collection consists of exclusive items from countries around the world and is designed to appeal to styles and tastes of all kinds. The color palette ranges from the traditional red, white, green, gold and silver to unexpected bright blues, pinks and purples.

The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by the Marines offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime. It is such experiences that help children become responsible citizens and caring members of their community.
