Cyclops II

Year of release: 1993; 1995 (X-Men Classics)
Figure Number: 4917 (43128 X-Men Classics)
Accessories: Cerebro Backpack Computer and one (1) small silver pistol/gun; Hover Platform (X-Men Classics only)
Action Feature: Light-up Optic Blast

Comments: Sculpted to reflect his current X-men uniform, this version of Cyclops is regarded as a vast improvement over the original figure. This version was more in keeping with the slightly larger scale the X-figures had slowly developed across several series and several years. In addition, resculpting this figure gave hope to fans that first series disappointments like Colossus would also get a second chance. Alas, this was not to be.

The action feature for this figure was very similar to that of the original figure. The visor was lit via a small button on the figure's back. The backpack accessory also allowed for this feature to be activated while the backpack was attached to the figure. Incorporating the design of the Mr. Sinister figure, this figure also featured a method for replacing the batteries that operated the action feature (Two A-76 button cell batteries). This was a significant improvement over the Cyclops I and Storm figures, many of which assuredly had dead batteries by this point.

This figure was re-released with the X-Men Classics series in 1995. This re-released figure was packaged with the "hover platform" from the X-Force ComCast figure. Despite the photgraphs on the card backs, this re-released figure did not come with the original backpack accessory. Each of the classics figures came packaged with a special trading card representing that figure. These cards were not available outside these packages, making it a first for Toy Biz.
