November 2007 - The cable network HGTV often airs hour-long special programs summarizing new products which have debuted at trade shows during the year. One such special they have for 2007 is "Gift Show 2007" (filmed at the New York International Gift Fair and the Atlanta Gift Show), which highlights cool new trinkety items perfect for gift-giving.
Two of the featured items in this special might catch the eye(s) of toy collectors:
- an "Army Man" candlestick holder (perhaps 8 or 9 inches tall)
- a bowl made from melted army men
Sadly, neither of these quirky pieces are listed in the HGTV Marketplace section for this episode, so you'll have to watch a rerun of the episode to catch a glimpse of them. It is scheduled to re-air on December 02, 2007 at 5:00 PM ET/PT and on December 25, 2007 12:00 PM ET/PT.
A quick Google search turned up neither of these items, although we did find three pages (1, 2, 3) with instructions for making your own Army Men bowl at home.
