August 2004 - Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, LLC is teaming up with Wizard Entertainment's ToyFare: The Toy Magazine to create an exclusive action figure based on one of the most popular characters from the hit TV shows Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the Angel: "Fool for Love" Spike Action Figure.

"We are very excited by our Spike figure from Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles," said Wizard Entertainment Product Manager Gabriel Fieramosco. "I saw the prototype recently and can't wait to get one myself. After the huge success we had with Vampire Willow, I am sure fans are going to love this one."

Designed by Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles (who also produced the figure) and Gentle Giant Studios (who also sculpted the figure), and offered exclusively via the pages of ToyFare and Wizard Entertainment's online shopping destination www.wizarduniverse.com the figure depicts the vampire anti-hero (portrayed by actor James Marsters) with his punk rock look from the fifth season episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Standing approximately 6" tall, this figure which is scheduled to be released in late January comes with 11 points of articulation; as well as a metal pipe, a Zippo lighter, a cross with an altar, a round bottle, and a square bottle.

"Fans have been very anxious to get their hands on this action figure, which is based on the much-lauded episode that, among other things, revealed how Spike won his trademark leather jacket by killing the slayer, Nikki, in the 1970s," said Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles Marketing and Sales Coordinator Scott Braden. "With this all-new figure release from Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles and ToyFare, we're going to grant them their wish!"
