K'NEX BRANDS KICKS OFF ITS ANNUAL CONSTRUCTION TOY COMPETITION FOR COLLEGE SAVINGS BONDS
August 2007 - Hatfield, PA - K'NEX Brands, a global leading construction toy company, is looking for aspiring kids to put on their thinking caps and enter the K'NEXpert Search � an annual contest that asks kids to design an ultra-creative, original model made entirely from K'NEX parts. One imaginative winner will win a $10,000 savings bond for education.
Young builders between the ages of 6-12, must submit an entry within one of four building categories: Ultimate K'NEX Model � built with K'NEX Bricks, Classic K'NEX and Micro K'NEX; architecture (buildings and structures); vehicles; and amusement park thrill rides. Kids are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild � models are judged on creativity, uniqueness and detail.
Last year's Grand Prize Winner, Lucas Bruno, designed a Hyperspeed Rollercoaster using over 4000 K'NEX parts!
Nine additional winners will be awarded $1,000 savings bonds each.
Also, all ten winners will receive building sets, discounts on online purchases, K'NEX gear, a K'NEX birthday gift, and an invitation to visit the K'NEX headquarters and discover, through company designers, how K'NEX is made.
The 2008 K'NEXpert Search runs from July 2, 2007 to September 28, 2007 with winners announced in November 2007. Children enter by printing out the entry form from the K'NEX web site (www.knex.com) beginning July 2, 2007 and mailing it to K'NEX. Submissions must include a photo of the creation and a one minute video or one page summary describing how the child came up with the idea, how long it took to build and how many K'NEX pieces were used.
A panel of judges comprised of K'NEX employees will select semi-finalists, an online vote will determine ten winners and Joel Glickman, inventor of K'NEX, will choose One Grand Prize Winner.
