Barbie Live in Fairytopia

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (November 4, 2005) - Mattel and Clear Channel Entertainment today announced the creative team who will bring original songs and an elaborate stage production of "Barbie™ Live in Fairytopia™!" to life in approximately 80 cities across North America. Acclaimed director Eric Schaeffer and Tony-nominated costume designer Gregg Barnes will lead the production team for the Barbie™ Brand's first-ever, touring live theatrical stage show.

"Mattel Entertainment is thrilled to announce the incredibly talented and multi award-winning creative team for 'Barbie™ Live in Fairytopia™!,'" said Richard Dickson, Senior Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing and Entertainment. "Along with Clear Channel Entertainment, we have truly assembled a Broadway-caliber, all-star line-up of behind the scenes masters that will transport audiences to the magical land of Fairytopia™, where glittery fairies and magical creatures will delight hearts and create new life-long memories for Barbie® fans of all ages."

Inspired by the highly successful March 2005 direct-to-video movie "Barbie® Fairytopia™," the magical theatrical production will enchant family audiences with beautiful costumes, exquisite backdrops and special effects - including awe-inspiring flying fairies. An original musical score will heighten the excitement and fantasy. "Barbie™ Live in Fairytopia™!" builds on the success of Barbie™ Entertainment's six chart-topping Barbie™ films and casts Barbie™ as Elina™ in a magical land of enchanting adventures.

Casting for Barbie™ as Elina™ will begin in early-December. Resumes and 8x10 photos can be sent to Stuart Howard Associates, 207 West 25th Street, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10001 for consideration. Additionally, an open casting call will be held on December 5, 2005 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Times Square Studios, 1500 Broadway, New York, NY. Portions of the audition may be broadcast on national television on "Good Morning America." Please visit BarbieLive.com or call 212-365-6848 for more information.

"It's great to be working on this new production that will introduce Barbie™ to the theatrical stage," said Schaeffer. "It promises to bring Fairytopia™ to life in an exciting three-dimensional production that will be perfect for families across America and beyond. We've assembled a terrific creative team that promises to make a lasting impression for the long-awaited theatrical debut of Barbie™."

Costume designer Gregg Barnes said, "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to design for Barbie® - she is a fashion phenomenon. It is a great honor to bring to life the fantasy and grandeur that she inspires among all ages."
