Star Trek: Art Asylum & Diamond Select

March 1, 2005 - Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles, LLC (DST) is pleased to announce a partnership with Art Asylum Inc. to produce all future Star Trek™ products. This partnership will transfer responsibilities such as marketing, sales, and distribution to Diamond Select Toys; while Art Asylum will maintain sculpting and design duties.

The first figures in this new partnership will come from Star Trek: The Next Generation series, with plans for releases based on other Star Trek series as well. Working with Art Asylum's designers, DST plans to stay with "the scale and lines that Art Asylum has already succeeded with," remarked Chuck Terceira, Director of Diamond Select Toys. The only exception is DST's planned wave of Trek MiniMates, which will be in the same 2-inch scale of Art Asylum's C3 line and not the 3-inch scale of the original Trek 'Mates.

Art Asylum's Adam Unger also sees a bright future on his end. "The opportunity for Art Asylum to work with DST on the Trek program will be a real blessing for the fans," declared Unger. "We're putting together a great line for the fall of '05, much deeper than in the past, and we're hoping to extend this relationship for many years to come."

"Viacom Consumer Products is delighted to partner with Diamond, a leader in the specialty and collectible business, to continue our strong tradition of outstanding Star Trek product," said Shreice Torres, vice president, hard goods, Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products.

Terceira finished by adding, "Art Asylum is the key to the success of this endeavor. Their work on the Trek license has set a new standard that we are privileged to continue. This is just a combining of the best of both worlds - their sculpting, design and expertise, with our marketing and access to the specialty market, which will provide great products, and a greater variety of products, for Star Trek's legions of fans."
