Vampires Abound: Living Toyz in the Shadow of the Vampire

sov_malkovich.jpg - 7379 BytesNicolas Cage's three-year old production company, Saturn Films, will soon be releasing it's first movie, Shadow of the Vampire this summer.

Shadow of the Vampire stars John Malkovich as film director F.W. Murnau who directed the seminal horror classic Nosferatu. In fact, the movie is a fictionalized account of the making of that movie, with a peculiar twist. Willem DeFoe stars as Max Shreck, the actor who portrayed the vampire Nosferatu in the original movie. However, in this take on the events behind the making of Nosferatu, Shreck really is a vampire and his thirst for blood wrecks havoc on the movie set as Murnau tries to get his movie made.

A Quick Time version of the trailer for the film is available at the Saturn Films website.

As we announced during our Toy Fair coverage back in February, Living Toyz (makers of the soon-to-be-released Kroftt Superstars action figures) will be releasing a playset based on the movie around the time of the movies premiere this summer. The playset features 6" action figures in a play environment. Raving Toy Maniac will have more information on this intriguing project as it becomes available.
