Shrinky Dink Board Game

Millburn, NJ, - Ever wondered what it's like to be a dink? A Shrinky Dink, that is -- in Briarpatch's new board game, the magical world of Shrinky Dinks comes to life! Using the phenomenally successful shrinkable plastic activity toy invented by Milwaukee homemaker Betty Morris as inspiration, Briarpatch takes kids on an amazing adventure to Shrinky Dinks land -- a fun-filled journey where players become Shrinky Dinks and collect all kinds of Shrinky Dinks. As a BONUS, each Shrinky Dinks game contains shrinkable plastic and a pattern sheet so kids can make their very own game tokens...from dinosaurs to Dinky jewelry. Die cut tokens are also included so it is possible to just open the box and play.

First introduced in 1973, Shrinky Dinks evolved from a simple craft project that Betty Morris had invented for her son's Cub Scout pack. Shrinky Dinks amazed children with their magical ability to shrink before their eyes when heated in an oven. Spin Master Toys' Incredible Shrinky Dinks Maker(TM) was one of the top sales volume producers for the 2001 holiday season... and the momentum is still building. Without turning up the heat, Briarpatch's board game stimulates imaginations and simulates the play pattern of the Incredible Shrinky Dinks activity.

Each player starts the game with a BIG character token and proceeds down the board to the Incredible Shrinky Dinks Maker. The Shrinky process is a trade secret -- it involves a little spinner, some luck and a desire to become a dink...and is loads of fun! Only Shrinky Dinks can enter Shrinky Dinks land.

Shrinky Dinks Land has some incredible places to visit, like the Dink-a-saurus Swamp, Dinky Locker Room and Dinky Jewelry Store. Each destination has unique Shrinky Dinks characters that players collect. Twists and turns provide surprises along the way, with every player given the chance to raid the Dinky Warehouse for extra dinks at least once during each game. The first player to return home with five different dinks after traveling through the Shrinky Dinks Maker to become BIG again wins the game! But watch out...surprises abound, and dinky fortunes can change at a moment's notice.

"We're delighted to have the opportunity to translate the magic of Shrinky Dinks into a whole new world of creative play," said Martine Redman, head of Product Development at Briarpatch. "George Schimpf, our VP of Marketing, teamed with Betty Morris to capture the magic. The appeal of Shrinky Dinks transcends generations -- making it the perfect inspiration for a board game that the whole family can play and enjoy together."

"Briarpatch's game is the first Shrinky Dinks product to take kids into the magical, imaginative world that lies at the heart of every Shrinky Dinks activity," said Betty Morris, Shrinky Dinks inventor and President of K&B Innovations. "They've taken the basic creative play that has made Shrinky Dinks so popular, and expanded it to a unique new level -- it's a catchy little game and I'm proud to say it's a lot of fun!"

Recommended for ages 8 and up, the Incredible Shrinky Dinks Game will be available in September 2002 for a suggested retail price of $17.99.
