Dale Earnhardt: Outdoor Sportsman

GLEN ELLYN, Ill., Oct. 7 -- Racing Champions Ertl announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. to create the Dale Earnhardt Outdoor Sportsman line of articulated collectible figures. One of the most famous drivers in NASCAR racing history, Dale Earnhardt -- the legendary Intimidator himself -- is depicted in full hunting gear in the new collection, which will be produced by Ertl Collectibles(R), a brand of Racing Champions Ertl.

According to Peter Henseler, President of Racing Champions Ertl, the Company is the first to produce highly detailed Dale Earnhardt articulated hunting figures. "We're delighted to be working with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. to create this Dale Earnhardt Outdoor Sportsman line," he said. "There are an estimated 75 million NASCAR fans in the U.S. today, and some 77 million Americans who actively enjoy the great outdoors, and we're excited to bring both these worlds together. It's a powerful combination, and we look forward to introducing these Dale Earnhardt figures to a huge new audience."

The Outdoor Sportsman line, which was launched in 2001, showcases all aspects of outdoor sports -- figures, vehicles, clothing, and equipment -- and features high-profile personalities and brands associated with outdoor sports and adventure. The Company is marketing the Earnhardt figures nationally through hobby and sporting goods retailers and is making initial shipments during the forth quarter of 2002.

"We're very pleased that Racing Champions Ertl chose to honor Dale's
passion for hunting through their Outdoor Sportsman product
," said Joe Hedrick, Vice President of Licensing for Dale Earnhardt, Inc., "Given that the fans of Dale Earnhardt are well aware that he was just as serious about hunting as he was about winning on the race track, this product will be a great addition to every Dale Earnhardt fan's collection."
