Toys'R'Us Names New VP

PARAMUS, N.J., Sept. 17 -- William David has been named Vice President, Compensation and Benefits for Toys "R" Us, Inc. The announcement was made by Michael D'Ambrose, Executive Vice President Human Resources. Mr. David replaces Michael Butler, who previously held the position.

"We are very pleased to welcome someone of Bill's caliber to the Toys "R" Us organization," said Mr. D'Ambrose. "His breadth of experience in the compensation and benefits areas will be a significant asset to our company."

Mr. David joins Toys "R" Inc. from Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), where he served as Senior Director, Compensation and Benefits. He was based in the company's New York offices. Prior to that, Mr. David was with Aetna US Healthcare, where he served as General Manager, Core Sales Compensation. He also spent 15 years with Citigroup, in various positions before serving as Vice President Executive Compensation. Mr. David began his career at Chase Manhattan Bank.

Mr. David will be responsible for the strategic development and management of the compensation and benefits functions for Toys "R" Us and its divisions on a worldwide basis. He joins the company effective today and will report directly to Mr. D'Ambrose.

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Mr. David also has an M.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from Fordham University.

Toys "R" Us, one of the world's leading retailers of toys, children's apparel and baby products, currently sells merchandise through 1,575 stores worldwide: 688 toy stores in the United States; 521 international toy stores, including franchise stores; 148 Kids "R" Us children's clothing stores, 174 Babies "R" Us stores and 44 Imaginarium stores, and through its Internet sites at http://www.toysrus.com, http://www.babiesrus.com and http://www.imaginarium.com.
