McFarlane Update: South Park, Shaft and More!

1999 was McFarlane Toys' mostsuccessful year ever, featuring The Beatles' Yellow Submarine, KISS, OzzyOsbourne, Austin Powers, Sleepy Hollow, Metal Gear Solid and, of course,Spawn. In 2000, McFarlane Toys will release more than 100 figures from thewell-known to the obscure, including rock stars, sports figures, movie icons,children's classics, television animation, Japanese animation and more.

McFarlane Toys, which won dozens of awards from industry trades in 1999,including best toys, best paint, best articulation, best likeness, sexiestfemale, best sculpting and best company beating out powerhouse names like StarWars and Mattel. The company will be showcasing several lines for 2000 at theAmerican International Toy Fair in New York City, Feb. 13-17.



Some highlights include:

  • National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) players, including Ray Bourque, Jaromir Jagr, Curtis Joseph, Paul Kariya, Eric Lindros, Mark Messier, Patrick Roy, and Steve Yzerman
  • Samuel L. Jackson and Busta Rhymes from John Singleton's new film Shaft Returns
  • South Park's Kenny, Cartman, Stan and a few other pals
  • Ultima Online II, the sequel to Ultima Online, the standard bearer of online multiplayer role-playing worlds
  • Movie Maniacs III, featuring classic characters from The Fly, Edward Scissorhands, Army of Darkness, Escape from L.A and John Carpenter's The Thing
  • Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Janis Joplin, KISS
  • The Beatles as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
  • Characters from two classic horror/fantasy films from the '30s and '70s
  • Austin Powers II
  • Slap Shot's hockey thugs The Hanson Brothers from the film classic
  • The McKenzie Brothers, (a.k.a. Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) from Strange Brew
  • figures from Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak's award-winning classic children's book
  • figures from Akira, the groundbreaking Japanese sci-fi animation thriller; the television series Trigun and the Tenchi Muyo empire of video and television series, feature films and comic books
  • three new Spawn lines
