Team Building at Schaumburg LEGOLAND Discovery Center

Get off the Bench! Enter LEGOLAND Discovery Center's Contest to Build Team Spirit

LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTER IN SCHAUMBURG CHALLENGES CHICAGOLAND's SPORTS CLUBS TO TEST THEIR TEAM SPIRIT - BY MODEL BUILDING

CHICAGO, May 5, 2010 -- LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumburg has challenged Chicagoland's local sports clubs to enter its first-ever team building competition - by building LEGO models.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game. In addition to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the White Sox and Cubs are off to a swinging season. Inspired by all the sports buzz going on right now, LEGOLAND® Discovery Center in Schaumburg is scouting for local youth baseball and hockey teams to enter its first-ever team "building" competition. We're blowing the whistle today, so send in a team picture with a description of what your team would create out of LEGO® bricks to "build" team spirit. Points will be awarded for creativity, originality and a sense of humor. Groups can also bring their creations to life by visiting the Center and working with the Master Model Builder.

One local hockey team and one local baseball team will advance to the playoffs - a face off of aspiring athletes using LEGO bricks to "build" team spirit, creativity and cooperation. Through a series of grueling sports-themed challenges, culminating in a giant mosaic building showdown, one team will emerge victorious and walk away with a trophy made of LEGO bricks.

Ben Sweet, General Manager at LEGOLAND Discovery Center, said: "Being a LEGOLAND Discovery Center team player won't be as simple as just being able to follow instructions to build a great model.

"It's about coming together to use your team spirit to be able to build quickly and accurately, no matter how limited your selection of bricks. And we want to test Chicagoland's sports competitiveness to find the best local team out there."

Entries can be submitted online at www.LEGOLANDDiscoveryCenter.com/chicago or at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center's Facebook Fan Page at http://www.facebook.com/LEGOLANDDiscoveryCenter. Get your entry in before the buzzer as all entries are due by May 24th. All contest entries will be posted on the Master Model Builder's blog online and around the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumburg and the best team from each sport will go forward to the playoffs.

To see the work of the LEGOLAND Discovery Center team, guests can visit the attraction.
