SA-43 Hammerhead from "Space: Above & Beyond"

While it was great to see Kenner jumping on the "Space: Above & Beyond" bandwagon, we were disappointed that only the show's signature SA-43 Hammerhead vehicle was shown at Toy Fair this year. Given S:AAB's popularity, we expect to see much more from Kenner at San Diego Comic-Con '97.

Press release:

KENNER TAKES YOU "ABOVE & BEYOND" INTO "SPACE" THIS FALL!

Cincinnati, Ohio (February 14, 1997): "Space: Above & Beyond" is one of the highest-rated shows on the Fox network. Now Kenner brings all the action and excitement of "Space" home in a new line of authentically-detailed vehicles and action figures! The first vehicle in Kenner's 1997 line will be the SA-43 "Hammerhead" exo/endo-atmospheric fighter. This replica of the specially-equipped Hammerhead piloted by Nathan West in the show's smash second season premiere will delight kids and military collectors alike. The Hammerhead features dropping bombs, an articulated cannon, and an opening cockpit to hold the included Nathan West (Pilot) figure. Available in third quarter 1997, the Hammerhead will be a key driver for the line, with substantial TV support. Then the adventure continues in the fourth quarter with six fully-articulated action figures from the Marine 58th Squadron and the evil "Chig" forces. Go "Above & Beyond" with "Space!"
