Dick Grayson Wave 1

Created by King's Kreations ([email protected]).

Recipes

I tried Elmer's Tack for putty, it's easy to shape and combined with a glue called Zap-A-Gap that hardens overtop. It's pretty strong and easy (great for sculping hair). I use Acrylic paints mostly.

Dick Grayson Batman
JLA Batman figure with Silver Age Batman Head
putty for longer ears
utility belt made from cloth and plastic sprue
hand cut cloth cape
hand painted figure

Dick Grayson Robin
Nightwing figure
trim or scrape of parts of mask to make into domino mask
cut of most of collar and sanded details of figure
used putty to make gloves and boots
used strip of silk/nylon to finish bottom of tunic, glued in place after painting shorts
cut and trimmed belt using existing belt painted black, added plastic sprue for capsules on belt (painted yellow)
hand painted figure
glued plastic strip and collar to finish collar, painted yellow.
cut and shaped cape out of kitchen towel? (made of some kind of foam, easy to shape but very hard to glue and paint as it soaks into the towel) had to slip cape under collar which took some trimming and glued into place. after it dries, painted top of cape with multiple coats.

Dick Grayson Nightwing variant 2
Nightwing figure
trim off collar and sand down bracelets and boot tops.
fill in details around collar and grooves (where the yellow is on the costume) with putty and shape.
Create utility belt with existing belt and using exacto knife scribe lines evenly to make pouchs around belt including buckle. Paint yellow, then scribe lines on belt with technical pen or ink paint yellow parts of figure, then the light blue, then either a dark blue or blue/black or black (I used Phtalo Blue over the figure came out rich and dark)

Dick Grayson Nightwing variant 3
Aquaman figure (surprise)
sand down details, belt and top of tunic until it's smooth (Nightwing is young and thin so rather than add putty to smooth things out, I trim down and this gives him a lean look)
trim off gloves and fins
used putty to shape boots and gauntlets
paint blue on figure then black (use flat black or payne gray) for costume then gloss black for boots and gloves.
hand paint mask on face, use putty to add more hair, paint blue/black
cut 2 two inch sticks out of plastic sprue, paint gray
bike is 1/12 scale Honda 650? Cut off licence plate holder. I used a sharpie to color all the white parts on the bike which gives the bike some variation of color. I glue solid the rear axle on the bike and then got the desired angle, drill a small hole in the rear tire and used a small trim screw to secure it to a piece of plastic (it is thinner than wood)

Dick Grayson Renegade
Aquaman figure, Head from JLA batman
sand down details same as variant 3
use putty to shape boots and gauntlets (I cut a small piece of plastic extending out past the elbow and then filled it out with putty. Take your time on this step it takes time to dry)
Paint figure in reddish brown tones light one first, then I added a touch of black to get a darker shade
remove head from figure, cut off top of JLA Batman head about middle of forehead and begin to trim out inside of head to achieve desired shape to fit head to top of neck and secure in place (glue or cut and trim peg if you want head to turn, I glued mine) putty top of head to shape hair as desired paint blue/black.
