New Swag: Mini Reviews

Received two new goodies in the mail today:
American Comics Characters Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi #002 - Spider-Man
and
Miracle Action Figure EX - MAFEX - No.020 Hulkbuster

Spider-Man was never one of my favorite silver age super-heroes, although I loved Steve Ditko dearly. Nonetheless, I haven't kept a running count, but I must have 3 dozen Spidey figures (various scales) standing on or hanging from my shelves...not to mention a few magnetized to my fridge. I tell myself I'm seeking the "definitive" Spidey; that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
This Kaido Spidey is an odd duck. He's a tad over 6", though nowhere near as tall as a Marvel Select figure. Exceptionally nice sculpt & bright colors! This is a splendid comic version, not some modern movie iteration. He comes...not with several different heads...but with several different EYES that allow different expressions. Also four different pairs of hands, assorted web accessories, replacement pegs, and stand options (including a magnetic one).

1:6th Scale "K-Stone" Spears?

If you bought one of those wonderful (and pricey!) 1:6 scale Sideshow Armored Batmen, you may have wondered why it didn't come with the kryptonite-pointed spear that Batman would have OBVIOUSLY needed (armored suit notwithstanding) to stand a fighting chance against Superman. (Talk about predictable. Anyone might have guessed before ever seeing the rather mediocre Dawn of Justice movie that Batman would have had to employ some kryptonite at some point, right?)

Well, I wondered about this omission.

I noticed that Cotswold was selling two versions of an "aftermarket" spear: A glow-in-the-dark version, and a battery-powered version. I decided to opt for the latter, and it arrived yesterday.

The spear itself looks great...just like it did in the film. And it works just fine, but all was not exactly as expected. The spear itself comes with a single flesh-colored gripping hand, which is strange enough...moreover...

WWE Legend The Honky Tonk Man the Greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time is best known for his run with the WWF, where he held the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship for a record 454 days, and hitting his opponents in the head with his guitar. He will be available for autographs and photos all day.

Voice actor David Sobolov also joins us this year, he has voiced a long list of characters including the Decepticon SHOCKWAVE in Transformers Prime, DEPTH CHARGE in Beast Wars, DRAX in the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon, ROBOCOP in the Robocop cartoon, LOBO in Young Justice, GORILLA GRODD in The Flash TV Series and many more roles. He too will be available all day for autographs and photos.

14-inch Netflix Voltron!

OK. I like Voltron. The original cartoon from the 80s was a silly, guilty pleasure while I was in grad school (like reading the Legion of Super Heroes when I was otherwise a Marvel/Kirby man in the 60s).

I have several large, vintage Lionbots (including the new 16" one), and a big & bigger Stealth Voltron. I have the big Matchbox "vehicle" Voltron.

Boxes and Boxes

Do y'all keep your packaging? Ever since moving, I've only been collecting figures in the 12" range (ZOMG, the Full Metal Ghost figures from ThreeZero!) and tossing the boxes and stuff into my storage space. But, damn, those boxes are big. I've heard getting rid of them kills resale, not that I plan on reselling. Although my concern might be future transportation. These figures seem kind of sturdy, though.
Anyway, when any of you moved, did you use the original packaging to secure your stuff? If not, how well did the figures survive?

MiniReview: Batman The Animated Series Vehicle - 24" Batmobile Deluxe Edition

Hello, Ghost Town Toysite!

Just my impressions of the new boxed 24" "Deluxe" Batmobile...(aka BM)

"Extremely di$appointed" would be an under$tatement. Where to even $tart...a$ide from "$pend your $150 el$ewhere!"

I enjoyed Timm's Batman animated cartoon series, although I preferred the redesigned art after the first season. This BM is intended to be a larger scale version of the rather "art-deco" first season vehicle released along with the 5" figure line many years ago. It comes with Batman & Robin figures (although Robin was not featured in the first season of the cartoon, from which this car derives...more on this later), as well as an "art-decoish" bat signal.

This BM is hardly in scale with the 6" line AT ALL, although it purports to be. This BM is LAUGHABLY too large. Even the Caped Crusader & Boy Wonder would need to pole vault over the sprawling chassis to drop into the cockpit. At first glance this vehicle would seem to be far closer to 7" or 8" scale...however, unlike the earlier foot-long version of this car (which was a single-seater) this new giant-sized BM has been reimagined/redesigned to seat two, side-by-side.
