Does Barbie represent the woman of today?

The Barbie doll character is out-out-synch with the new social paradigm where women are wielding more power both within the house and at work than ever before.
Toys reflect the society. Specifically dolls help in creating role models for girls in a subtle but significant way. Today parents are looking for toys which will develop their daughters’ character and intelligence to nurture them to be future successful professionals, and toys like Barbie just don’t cut the ice.

Did I miss this? Cause it's new to me

Don't see a Robin though. Puzzled

Top 10 Action Figures (toys) of the Year

I'd like to know what you like as your top 10 Action figures of the Year or Toys. If those of you who get the High dollar import figures would like to have two lists that would be great. I'd love to see a retail list from as many folks as possible. Merry Christmas!

10. Creature From the Black Lagoon Funko Reaction Figures 3" scale. (Nod to the whole line but my favorite)
9. Creature from the Black Lagoon Neca 7" scale. (Best Creature figure ever)
8. Godzilla 2014 Movie Edition Neca 12" Long (6" scale) (Japanese imports at 3-4x the cost are on par)
7. Godzilla 2014 Jakks 24" Monster (The Biggest toy on my list and still under $50. He's HUGE!)
6. Hawk and Animal WWE Elite Mattel (Ooooooh What a rush!)
5. Darth Vader Hasbro 6" (The helmet sucks, but it is the Dark Lord of the Sith here)
4. Storm Trooper Hasbro 6" (Best army builder ever, hands down)
3. Link The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, World of Nintendo (Finally)
2. Whirl Transformers Generation Voyager (Two words, sticker sheet)
1. Armor Up Baymax

Custom McFarlane Sports Figures

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris and I just joined the forum. I've also just started customizing McFarlane sports figures. I ran across someone that asked me if I could redo a custom they have but I am not sure how to go about removing the custom paint job. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Chris

I saw the new Star Wars Black 6-inch series in Target this morning

This was in a Target in eastern Ohio. Looks like they had 1 box. There was 1 each of Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Luke in his black outfit and a Stormtrooper with a black shoulder pad. Luke's box was a little crushed, so I only got Vader and Chewie. And the paint on Vader's chest plate looked bad, but I figured I better buy him now, and I can exchange it later if I find a better looking one.

So they're out there, let the hunt begin!

Calling all toy enthusiasts! Help!!

Hi all,

My name is Dan and I'm a final year design student at Brunel University, London.

I'm looking to develop an innovative toy concept as part of my final year and I was just wondering if anyone could please take the time to fill in a quick survey to help me gain some market insights.

It takes less than a minute to complete and I'd really appreciate any help!

Thanks

Action Figure Databases - Pros and Cons - What are your thoughts?

I'm interested in cataloging my large collection of figures using one of the online databases, but see a few different options. I have a lot of different lines, so I don't think one of the Joe or Transformer specific ones will work for me. Has anyone used any of them and if so could you provide pros and cons for the ones you use?

Some of the ones I've found:

- FigureRealm
- Collector Dash Action Figures
- Action Figure Database (Doesn't appear to be launched yet)

Let me know if you find any others that are good.

Thanks for the help everyone!

NYCC toy showings were quite nice

Some 90's goodness from Marvel with Thunderstrike and armored Daredevil MU figures.

SW Black (6") continues to make me happy. Excited for Leia in the Boush costume, was always a fan of it. Though I will always find it funny that we have 4 Luke variants (X-Wing, Bespin, Knight, and upcoming Stormtrooper) and we're just now getting a good Leia. Because for some reason the first one we got was Slave Leia, which while iconic among nerds is just a really weird pick over her original white outfit. Heck even over all of her Empire outfits.
