EASY-BAKE Oven in the National Toy Hall of Fame

The other 2006 inductee was Lionel Trains.

Hasbro's EASY-BAKE Oven Inducted into National Toy Hall of Fame

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- November 9, 2006 -- Hasbro, Inc. is proud to announce that its beloved EASY-BAKE Oven was today inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame® at Strong National Museum of Play®. Since its introduction in 1963, the EASY-BAKE Oven has inspired millions of young children to create savory dinners, delicious desserts and edible works of art. Now, over 40 years later, the EASY-BAKE brand is still helping to mold and shape the bakers, chefs and restaurateurs of tomorrow.

"We are thrilled to have the EASY-BAKE Oven recognized by the National Toy Hall of Fame®," said Michelle Paolino, director of marketing, Girls, Hasbro, Inc. "Millions of little girls have baked their first 'big girl' cake with the EASY-BAKE Classic Oven, so it's fitting that the oven be recognized by the National Toy Hall of Fame® for continuing to inspire millions more to whip up delicious recipes the EASY-BAKE way."

"No wonder the Easy-Bake Oven has remained so popular for more than 40 years. There's no better way to learn how to follow directions, develop judgment, and learn to cook," said Patricia Hogan, Curator, Strong National Museum of Play®. "And the best part: play with an EASY-BAKE Oven makes its own reward. Who doesn't love chocolate cake!"

In 2006, the master chefs at Hasbro's EASY-BAKE Oven brand cooked up a whole new look for the classic toy oven. The EASY-BAKE Classic Oven's new design features a heating element that no longer requires a lightbulb! Kids will bake their favorite sweets and treats just like mom and dad do in their "real" kitchen oven.

The National Toy Hall of Fame® at Strong - National Museum of Play® recognizes toys that have engaged and delighted multiple generations, inspiring them to learn, create, and discover through play. Criteria for induction include: Icon-status (the toy is widely recognized, respected, and remembered); Longevity (the toy is more than a passing fad and has enjoyed popularity over multiple generations); Discovery (the toy fosters learning, creativity, or discovery through play); and Innovation (the toy profoundly changed play or toy design).

The EASY-BAKE Oven joins Hasbro favorites CANDY LAND, G.I. JOE, MONOPOLY, MR. POTATO HEAD, PLAY-DOH, SCRABBLE and TONKA TRUCKS in the National Toy Hall of Fame®. To date, 36 toys have been inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame®.
