BTVS: Buffybot Action Figure

buffybot action figure

DIAMOND SELECT TOYS, TIME AND SPACE TOYS TO REACTIVATE BUFFYBOT WITH NEW BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER ACTION FIGURE

January 2006 - Online retailer Time and Space Toys will be offering an exclusive Buffybot action figure, based on the robotic double of Buffy the Vampire Slayer from the hit TV show. When Buffy spurned the romantic advances of Spike, he had the Buffybot built as his robot lover. The Buffybot was later reprogrammed to replace the deceased Buffy as the Slayer for a brief time. Sculpted by Gentle Giant, this new figure is scheduled to be released in Spring 2006 as a Time and Space Toys exclusive.

"The Buffybot was a great transitional character; one that offered humor, sex appeal and all things techno-geeky to the viewer," said Time and Space Toys President Kevin Kriess. "The robot was able to transition Spike's obsessions for Buffy to his genuine affection for her and then used to transition life without the Slayer to the moment of her rebirth."

Gentle Giant and DST came together to create a detailed rendering of Sarah Michelle Gellar's portrayal of the Buffybot. Standing approximately 6" tall, this exclusive comes with an axe, stake and battery as well as a display base taken from Spike's crypt.

"The Buffybot was such a fun part of the show and we knew we wanted to include it in the action figure release," commented Michael Leavey of Diamond Select Toys. "Time and Space Toys has been a strong supporter of our Buffy and Angel lines in the past and we're excited to continue working with them."

Michael Peikoff, VP of Domestic Licensing for Twentieth Century Fox noted "There is a built-in and extremely passionate fan base for the 'Buffy' property and we are thrilled that Diamond & Time and Space toys are bringing BUFFYBOT to the marketplace. The BUFFYBOT was an integral part of the storyline and we believe this rendering will resonate with both fans and collectors."
