Star Wars LEGO Charity Auction

star wars rebel attack cruiser lego model

8-Foot, George Lucas Certified, One-of-a-Kind LEGO® Star Wars Rebel Attack Cruiser Model Auction Begins Today - 100% of Proceeds from eBay Auction of LEGO Model to Benefit Habitat for Humanity's Hurricane Relief Efforts

ENFIELD, Conn. -- Dec. 14, 2005 -- Give a gift of galactic proportions this holiday season to your favorite LEGO® Star Wars™ fan! Beginning today, Star Wars and LEGO fans alike may bid online at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6022866702 to own a one-of-a-kind 8-foot LEGO Rebel Attack Cruiser™ model certified for authenticity by George Lucas.

As culmination to the top-selling 2005 LEGO Star Wars product line, Master Builder Erik Varszegi created and built the model which spans 8-feet, weighs over 150 pounds and includes over 35,000 LEGO pieces. Varszegi designed the model exclusively for display at Celebration III, ComicCon, LEGOLAND® California and several other national LEGO events to promote the final episode in the Star Wars saga.

"Since 1999 when Star Wars became the very first licensed product line in LEGO Group history, the passion and enthusiasm for experiencing the Star Wars franchise through the medium of LEGO bricks has been fantastic," says Michael Moynihan, senior director of marketing, LEGO Systems. "Therefore, it seems only appropriate that after the Episode III release our collective fans have the opportunity to bid on, own and showcase this commemorative piece of LEGO and Star Wars memorabilia."

LEGO Rebel Attack Cruiser Package:

-- Stem to stern, the model is a little over eight feet long and 44 inches wide, and comes with display stand.

-- Model features precise detail in LEGO form, functional elements and secret treasures.

-- Includes framed certificate of authenticity, signed by George Lucas and the LEGO model builder who designed and built it.

-- Free shipping.

Bidding opens today at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6022866702 and will close, 10 days later, at 3:44:33 EST on December 24, 2005. The minimum opening bid is $2,500. One hundred percent of auction proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity's hurricane relief efforts in the southeastern United States to aid families who are rebuilding their lives in the wake of the natural disaster.
