MOTU Cold-Cast Static Figures

January 2005 - The fans asked for 'em, so they've got 'em. Since the disappearance of the Masters of the Universe action figure line from toy store shelves, a void has been left. Many characters have been left without a 3-D rendition in six-inch form. We hope to solve that problem in the best way that we can with the introduction of a 6" scaled MotU cold-cast static figure line.

Since we introduced our larger format statues a year ago, MotU fans have been requesting that we release the characters as statues in a smaller format that would be both space-efficient and cost-efficient to them. It seems the time is right to do just that.

Of course, creating the MotU action figure line would be our first and foremost choice, but since that's not possible right now we think that our 6" scaled MotU cold-cast static figure line is the best alternative.

In order to get this line together and out to the public as quickly as possible, the first wave will consist of only two characters, while each wave thereafter will consist of three characters.

The two characters chosen for the first wave are the evil warlord - Hordak and the crab-like creature - Clawful. Each of these characters were chosen not only for their popularity, but also for the ease of being able to get them together and into the hands of MotU fans everywhere with the least amount of delay. And as for Clawful, he's been sitting on our shelf, completely finished and awaiting the 6" treatment for about three years now. His time has finally come.

As for the fans that are worried that they may not get to see their favorite MotU character in this new format, don't be. We plan to keep this line going as long as we possibly can in order to try to get to each and every previously neglected MotU character there is. Assortments will be designed in order to integrate both the powerhouses and the minions of the MotU mythos with a few surprises thrown in here and there.

The second wave will consist of the elephantine hero Snout Spout, the odor emitting stench-master Stinkor, and a character never before revealed in the current MotU line's 6" format Hordak's hunter, Grizzlor! And if you're going to ask yes, Grizzlor will have real fur... well, it's fake real fur. Images of the second wave should be popping up in another few weeks or so.

Since the 6" scaled MotU cold-cast static figure line are being produced in lower numbers than were produced for the action figure line, we have the freedom to make the characters to the scales in proportion to one-another that we see fit. In other words, He-Man won't be towering over powerhouse monstrosities like Whiplash and Clawful.

Each character will be removable from their base and all of their accessories will be removable as well. Each of the character's bases will designate their faction. Hordak's evil hordes will be atop red bases, while Skeletor's minions will sport purple bases, and so on.

Last but definitely not least, even though we won't be showing the finished packaging for at least another week or so, we wanted to let all of you fans of the recently ended MotU comic in on a little tidbit...

Even though, because of both cost and licensing restrictions, we aren't able to do a mini-comic or collector's card for the 6" scaled MotU cold-cast static figures, illustrations for the packaging will be done by two of MotU history's biggest and most knowledgeable fanboys, Emiliano Santalucia and Val Staples! Just wait until you get a look at the artwork they're turning in for this stuff. Needless to say, it's nothing short of spectacular.

The first wave of 6"scaled MotU cold-cast static figures should start hitting shelves in mid to late February, so keep your eyes peeled. The power lives on!
