Free Offer: Ouch! Vinyl Toys

ouch vinyl figure

New York, NY, December 9, 2004 It's not easy being a vinyl toy. Or at least not a limited-edition Ron Reg, Jr. vinyl toy. Agony, aches and adversity mark each day in the life of Reg, Jr.'s winsome characters, who made their first appearance in two dimensions on Ouchthewebsite.com. Brave siblings, the Ouch! Twins are hounded but undeterred by a phantasmagorical Agitator of pain. The Ouch! Twin toys are brought to life in three dimensions by groundbreaking art-toy-makers Critterbox. The toys grew out of the Ouch! Twins comic series by Ron Reg, Jr., which chronicles a boy and girl (fraternal twins) navigating the perplexing chaos of their everyday lives. The Agitator is a mysterious creature who is above and beyond good and evil, but who is most definitely intent on hurling all the slings and arrows of painful misfortune. The characters are embodiments of Reg, Jr.'s sublime and idiosyncratic vision of a world caught in the delicate balance between pleasure and pain.

About Ron Reg, Jr.

Ouch! featured Ron Reg, Jr.'s online comic series, "Ron Reg, Jr.'s Lost Comics," on ouchthewebsite.com, and then decided to bring some of his characters into three dimensions as vinyl toys. Edgy and sweet at the same time, Reg, Jr.'s comics series explores the sublime and intimate connection between pleasure and pain, angst and creativity. In Reg, Jr.'s world, they are inseparable and are invitations for the muse to descend ("Ah, there she is!").

Reg, Jr., was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts and began making his self-described "weird, artsy" mini-comics in 1991. The release of his surreal Skibber Bee-Bye, which explores "searching for things and missing things," gained him a cult following and kudos from the critics and his peers. Macarthur Award-winning comics genius Chris Ware has called Reg, Jr., "the greatest 'new cartoonist' (whatever that is) I can think of. He has wholly reinvented the comic strip language to suit his own vision... and his beautiful, complex little line drawings are warm, funny, sad, smart, and best of all, alive."
