Mucha Lucha! Read-A-Rama

BURBANK, Calif. -- October 4, 2004 -- Network's Second In-School Literacy Program Supported by On-Air Promotional Campaign and National Read-and-Win Promotion to Incentivize Kids to Read

-- Grand Prize of $5,000 Donation to Highest-Scoring School Library and Top-Reading Classroom to Be Featured on Kids' WB!

Kids' WB! is proud to invite kids and schools across the country to participate in the network's second national educational reading initiative, "MUCHA LUCHA! READ-A-RAMA." This literacy program is being offered to more than 50,000 elementary schools and will reach over 10 million students, parents and teachers through a direct-mail outreach campaign that will motivate kids to read.

"MUCHA LUCHA! READ-A-RAMA" will take place throughout October and November and be supported by a national on-air promotional campaign on Kids' WB! and an exciting read-and-win promotion to incentivize students and schools to participate and read. The national on-air promotional campaign will feature The Flea of Mucha Lucha! encouraging kids to enter the "MUCHA LUCHA! READ-A-RAMA."

"MUCHA LUCHA! READ-A-RAMA" is the second Kids' WB! in-school initiative, following the highly successful "POKE-READ-A-RAMA Challenge" in 2001, which resulted in more than one million books being read. The "MUCHA LUCHA! READ-A-RAMA" program has been developed under the direction and guidance of award-winning curriculum specialist YMI (Young Minds Inspired, formerly Youth Media International Ltd.) and its panel of veteran educators. On Friday, October 1, "MUCHA LUCHA! READ-A-RAMA" began! Elementary schools nationwide will have until Tuesday, November 30, for their students to read as many books as possible. Each student will receive one Mucha-Point for every book read and recorded on a Mucha-Report. Each school will tally the total number of Mucha-Points accumulated by its students, divided by the number of students registered in grades 1-6. The school with the most books read per student wins! Official representatives from all participating schools must submit their total scores by logging on to http://www.KidsWB.com by Thursday, December 9, 2004, in order to be eligible to win.

The Grand Prize-winning school will receive a $5,000 donation to its school library. Additionally, the individual classroom within the winning school that reads the most books will be featured on Kids' WB! during a Saturday morning broadcast. Five First Prize-winning schools will each be awarded with a $1,000 donation to their school library.

Mucha Lucha Gigante! is produced by Warner Bros. Animation under the guidance of executive producer Sander Schwartz, producers Ken Kessel and Joel Kuwahara, and creators/producers Eddie Mort and Lili Chin. The Latin-flavored series airs Saturday mornings at 8:30 a.m. ET / 7:30 a.m. PT and weekday afternoons at 3:30 p.m. ET/PT on Kids' WB!
