Ozzy 2: Bark at the Moon Figure

ozzy osbourne action figure

May 2004 - Tempe, AZ - Since one Ozzy figure is never enough, McFarlane Toys is releasing its second Ozzy Osbourne action figure. The inspiration for the figure is based on Ozzy's classic Bark at the Moon album cover from 1983.

Since the original artwork didn't show the Ozzy/Wolfman's entire body, McFarlane Toys' sculptors went to work re-creating the cover in 3D with a full figure. Details include elongated fingernails and teeth, pants - torn from the transformation, and a skeleton lying at Ozzy's feet. The "forest"-style base that completes the scenario is also included in the package.

The first Ozzy figure from McFarlane featured a shirtless Ozzy holding a crucifix in front of a stained glass window base and came complete with headless bats and doves.

John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne began his professional music career in the late 1960's with the heavy metal pioneer group Black Sabbath. The band released its platinum, Billboard Top 40, self-titled debut album in 1970 and built upon their success with platinum albums Paranoid (1971) and Master of Reality (1971), which appeared in the Billboard Top 10. As the lead singer, Ozzy pioneered an entire genre of music --- music whose popularity, apparently, has not faded with time. Black Sabbath reunited in front of standing room-only crowds across the country for their first full tour in 20 years. Following that success, they currently are headlining the perennially top-grossing OzzFest Tour. Founded by the "Prince of Darkness" himself, Ozzfest has attracted more than four million fans over the last seven years.

Look for this clamshell in September at Spencer's, Musicland, EB and other specialty stores for around $10. Other McFarlane Toys' music releases in 2004 will include: three different Elvis action figures, a new line of collectible figures from the Beatles' Yellow Submarine, a KISS - Love Gun boxed set, second Jimi Hendrix figure and Motley Crue.

Grammy- and Emmy-winning Producer/Director Todd McFarlane, best known as the creator of Spawn and the founder of spawn.com, is the creative force behind McFarlane Toys. The international award winning company is one of America's top action figure manufacturers with several successful movie-licensing tie-ins, including Warner Brother's The Matrix trilogy, Shrek; X-Files; Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow; the first two Austin Powers films; the Beatle's Yellow Submarine; Akira and the company's seminal Movie Maniacs series featuring horror icons from such films as Terminator and Terminator 2, Alien, Predator, Texas Chainsaw Massacre; Friday the 13th; The Thing; Army of Darkness; The Fly; Blair Witch; Scream; A Nightmare on Elm Street; Halloween and more.
