Batman Edutainment Mystery Games

LOS ANGELES, May 14 -- Riverdeep, a leading publisher of interactive products in the edutainment and productivity markets, today announced they have entered into an agreement with DC Comics, a division of Warner Bros. Entertainment Group, to develop and distribute Batman edutainment CD-ROM games worldwide for the PC.

Under the terms of the agreement, Riverdeep will ship two titles, expected to be in stores this holiday season. The software will combine exciting kid-appropriate adventures, with robust interactive gameplay, to deliver engrossing, action-packed mystery games to boys ages 7 to 10.

"Kids' entertainment software represents a large segment of the CD-ROM market and one in which our presence is steadily growing," said Joe Roberts, president of worldwide products and marketing for Riverdeep. "We are thrilled to partner with DC Comics with this opportunity to deliver software products based on a well-known super hero," continued Roberts.

"Batman is one of the world's most greatest and recognizable super heroes, not to mention that he is known for his technological prowess," said John Nee, DC Comics vice president, business development. "He is the perfect partner for Riverdeep to develop superior edutaiment CD-ROM PC games."

From its riveting debut in Detective Comics in May 1939, through more than 60 years of comic book, movie, television, and cartoon incarnations, Batman has been thrilling fans of all ages for generations. Batman currently appears in 10 hours of television programming each week, including the hit Justice League animated series on Cartoon Network. In addition to television, DC Comics currently publishes 13 Batman comic books each month. Batman is currently the #1 comic book series in the country. Warner Home Video will release Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, a direct-to-video animated movie, this fall.
