Game Boy Advance e-Reader

game boy advance ereader

August 7, 2002 - Did you know you could fit five classic NES video games in your wallet?

On September 16 video gamers will embark on a new era of gaming. Games that used to come on bulky cartridges can now fit on a few custom paper trading cards that are brought to life by Nintendo's newest innovation -- the e-Reader(TM). Data is printed onto the margins of the cards and when gamers connect the e-Reader to their Game Boy(R) Advance and slide a card through the device, information is instantly downloaded onto the Game Boy Advance.

In addition to classic games playable on Game Boy Advance, e-cards for the e-Reader will allow players to enhance gameplay or unlock new features and environments on select NINTENDO GAMECUBE(TM) video games.

The e-Reader will retail for $39.95 and will include:

  • one e-Reader unit
  • one classic Nintendo game (five Donkey Kong Jr.(R)-e or five Pinball-e cards)
  • one Game & Watch Manhole(TM)-e card
  • three Pokemon(R) The Card Game-e cards
  • one Animal Crossing(TM)-e card.
There will also be five classic games originally made for the Nintendo Entertainment System(R)(NES) sold separately for a retail price of $4.95. These include Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight(R), Pinball, Tennis and Excitebike(R).
