Spotting a Carded Super-Articulated GI Joe

Hasbro has introduced a new, more articulated body for GI Joe. This new body type is known to collectors as the super-articulated body. You may see this abbreviated as SA in places like alt.toys.gi-joe. This new body type has articulation like many of the collector figures geared at the adult market, but is also durable enough to stand up to play.

Carded GI Joes, which are part of the Alpha Assortment, are showing up with this new body type. It is hit or miss as to if the GI Joe has the new SA body, but there is one sure-fire way to tell. Find a GI Joe in short sleeves, so that the elbow joint is visible. If you see the odd, triple joint, then this is the new body type. You can find these carded GI Joes right now for $14.99 at major retailers.
