LEGO Education Offers Online Teaching Resources

Learning.com, LEGO® Education Collaborate to Offer Teachers Creative, Online STEM Resources

Curriculum for LEGO® Education Simple and Motorized Mechanisms Set now available online through Learning.com's digital learning environment

PORTLAND, Ore. -- January 19, 2011 -- LEGO® Education and Learning.com now offer teachers an easy way to ignite their students' interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by collaborating to deliver a LEGO Education Simple and Motorized Mechanisms curriculum module through Learning.com's digital learning environment.

This new collaboration provides teachers with classroom material for LEGO Education's unique, hands-on learning system in Learning.com's teacher-friendly digital learning environment. Through Learning.com, teachers can find the LEGO Education curriculum module that focuses on key physical science principals, assign it to students, then grade and track student progress all online. Students work as young scientists, engineers, and designers to explore scientific principles and apply them to hands-on problem-solving activities. LEGO designed the module for use in conjunction with the LEGO Education Simple and Motorized Mechanisms Set, specifically created to bring simple machines concepts to life in a classroom setting. Now, teachers can use the LEGO Education set and curriculum in conjunction with Learning.com's powerful digital learning environment.

"The collaboration between Learning.com and LEGO Education gives elementary teachers another way to bring enriching STEM activities to their classrooms," says Stephan Turnipseed, President of LEGO Education North America. "The ability to access online educational material is essential to learning in the 21st century."

With this new module, teachers have all the tools they need to introduce elementary students to specific STEM learning objectives related to simple machines. Teachers can also use this LEGO Education module in conjunction with Learning.com's math and science curricula, Aha!Math and Aha!Science, to further explore STEM concepts, and to individualize instruction for groups of students, or for individual students. Because the resources are all Web-delivered, teachers can access all the instructional and teacher support materials from anywhere, and at anytime.

"This collaboration is a perfect fit for Learning.com, because of our commitment to provide teachers with digitally delivered STEM resources that simplify integrating STEM into their instruction," says William J. Kelly, Learning.com CEO. "LEGO Education is a stellar provider of quality experiences for teachers and for students, and we're delighted to partner with them."
