GearHead Street Savage Tops Duracell Survey

HOUSTON--Oct. 19, 2001-- DSI Toys Inc. (Nasdaq:DSIT) is the recipient of awards in one of the industry's leading toy tests.

The GearHead Street Savage(TM) R/C Vehicle was voted the No. 1 Toy in the 14th Annual DURACELL Kids' Choice Toy Survey(TM).

"The experts have spoken, and Street Savage speeds, turns and flips its way to the top spot," according to Julie Creighton, director, DURACELL Kids' Choice Toy Survey. Unlike other remote control vehicles, GearHead Street Savage features rear wheel steering that allows it to zip around at every angle. By alternating the direction of the joysticks, kids can perform extreme high-speed spins and wheelies.

The Kawasaki Mega Deluxe Drum Pad from DSI Toys nabbed the No. 7 spot in the kid-tested, kid-approved Duracell 2001 "Top 10 List." The musical toy, which features eight light-up drum heads, classic and electronic drum modes, 30 background rhythms and four special effects, helps encourage "creativity and group play," according to Creighton.

"We're particularly honored by these awards," notes Joe Whitaker, senior vice president of DSI Toys Inc., "since kids -- the ultimate authority -- have given our toys such an enthusiastic vote of approval."

By securing both the No. 1 and No. 7 spots in the survey, both products will be featured on Duracell's toll-free hot line 1-800-BEST-TOYS (1-800-237-8869) as well as the Duracell Web site (http://www.duracell.com) throughout the holiday season.

"We've always aimed for innovation, creativity and play value in our toys," added Whitaker, "and to have this recognized by boys and girls alike is dramatic proof that our aim is right on target."
