Kubrick Series 3!

Success again! Kubrick's Special Forces series 3 is out and available. Packaged like Series 1 and 2, they come in orange boxes so you don't know which figure you're getting until you open it. We scored the SAT (A) with flip-up visor, S.W.A.T. (C) with gas mask, the S.W.A.T. (D) with goggles, and Future Warrior 2025. We did not get the ESI, wearing a gas mask and bullet proof vest. The ESI is an elite Belgian anti-terrorism unit

One of our operatives found the elusive Impossible to Find Kubrick. The figure for Series 3 is the SAT (B) with night-vision goggles and sweet sniper rifle.

Surprisingly, we also obtained the ultra-rare and not advertised Gang Member Variant. This gang member is pretty cool with his wallet chain and switchblade. We have not seen a picture of its variant.

The carton has a silloutted figure with a question mark, however this is not the "impossible to find Kubrick" advertised on the box. These figures (blue SAS variant in series 1, and female officer in series 2) are randomly inserted into cases at 1:96 ratio. Meaning, for every 96 boxes, there is only one "Impossible to Find Kubrick."

The most interesting of the common assortment is the Future Cop. Part Judge Dread, part imagination. Sticking mostly to liscensed properties, the Kubrick brain doesn't often come up with new characters. They have based their Special Forces figures on realistic crime fighters. It was good to see them create something that was not based on an existing character. He has an interesting 'future gun' I do not recognize from an existing Kubrick line. He has new torso armor and a helmet not from this time.

Kubrick has evolved with this line, series by series. Series 1, was interesting with its weapons and accessories. Their Terrorist with 'cloth' trench coat was cooler than words. The second series impressed with more detailed and original accessories. Series one had mainly three types of guns, with only the SAS coming with an interlocking ladder. Series two had a battering ram, a grappling line (with suction cup) and riot shields (recylced from their POTA series). This time, instead of battling mysterious terrorists, they were fighting Gang Members, the featured one coming with a leather jacket, sunglasses and switch blade. Series three has upped the ante with better helmets (the face shield in series 2 does not fit on the helmet very well), newer weapons, and fresh looking figures. It's easy to recycle armor and weapons from different series together, but they come out of the gate with an impressive follow up to this already successful line.

Here is the package break-down:

  • SAT (A) - 7:24
  • S.W.A.T. (C) - 6:24
  • S.W.A.T. (D) - 5:24
  • Future Warrior 2025 - 4:24
  • ESI - 2:24
