Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Releases Limited Edition Scents Based on the Works of Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer, to Benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund

LOS ANGELES, July 21, 2009 -- Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) presents "Sunbird," a numbered, limited edition chapbook of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed short story, with new art by Julie Dillon. Each chapbook comes with a 5ml bottle of Sunbird perfume oil blend from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.

This edition is limited to 1000 copies. 250 will be sold by CBLDF at San Diego Comic Con 2008, and the remainder will go on sale July 30, 2009, at http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com. The retail price for the set is $50.

Also at Comic Con, Black Phoenix premieres the 15-month scent and art series based on Neil Gaiman's short story "15 Painted Cards from a Vampire Tarot." Each set comes with a 5ml bottle of perfume inspired by the tale and a corresponding tarot card, created by Madame Talbot. A t-shirt featuring Madame Talbot's artwork for the series will also be available through Black Phoenix Trading Post at http://www.blackphoenixtradingpost.com.

The Fool is premiering at San Diego Comic Con through the CBLDF, along with a Comic Con exclusive variant of The Fool created by artist Alicia Dabney. The first card set will be available in August of 2009 on the Black Phoenix sites. A new set will be added to the collection each month, spanning 15 months.

Additionally, the CBLDF will offer the full line of "Who Killed Amanda Palmer" fragrances at Comic Con, created by Black Phoenix and inspired by the photography book featuring stories by Neil Gaiman.

There will be 12 scents available both at the CBLDF booth and at Amanda Palmer's Friday night concert. "Who Killed Amanda Palmer" scents will be available after Comic Con from http://www.postwartrade.com.

Proceeds from every bottle sold go to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1986 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community.

To date, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab has raised over $50,000 for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund through sales of their Neil Gaiman-related series.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab specializes in formulating intriguing, compelling body and household blends with a dark, romantic, and sexual tone. Their scents run the aesthetic gamut of romance era, Renaissance, Medieval and Victorian formulas, pagan and mythological blends, and horror/Gothic-themed scents. They have over two decades of experience in the field, and their joy is their work. All of their products are hand-blended in their laboratory.

San Diego Comic Con will be held July 23-26, 2009 at the San Diego Convention Center. The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund can be found at booth #1920.
