January 2009 Mattel Q&A

January 2009 - Every couple of weeks, Mattel will answer five questions per web site about their various product lines. Here are the answers for the past few questions:

1. Any chance of seeing the Wal-Mart exclusive wave end up on Matty Collector, due to distribution issues?

Answer: No. this wave will only be available through Wal-Mart. But we do have plenty of Wave 5 still shipping so keep your eyes out! If you are not seeing Wave 5 at your local Wal-Mart be sure to let the toy manager know. This is the best way to let Wal-Mart know you demand more DCU figures!

2. Any chance of seeing the KB exclusive figures end up on Matty Collector, due to that store's current situation?

Answer: We have already shipped KB there full order for these figures, but because of the changing status of KB we are looking at ways of brining these two characters back.

3. Will Mattel ever make large scale cloth costumed DC figures? (Not Barbie dolls, but like the Famous Covers figures from Toy Biz or the Famous Covers-like DC line that Hasbro did?)

Answer: We are looking at this as a possibility in late 2009.

4. What figures are in the other wave 3 JLU 6 pack? We know the Gentlemen Ghost 6-pack, but what figures are in the other 6-pack in that case?

Answer: The JLU 6 packs will be available only in the fall so we will not be revealing the next pack until later in the year. Fans should know however that this will not affect the number of packs released this year. We were always planning to release 4 six packs, the only change is that they will all come out in the fall instead of one per quarter. (similar to how they were released in 2008)

5. With all of the recent somewhat obscure character choices for the DCUC line, Killer Moth, Gentleman Ghost, Blue Aquaman, this new Luthor, Commander Steel, Etc. That have generated such buzz... Will we be seeing other "non-iconic" characters in future waves?

Answer: Absolutely. The plan has always been to combine non iconic characters and A list heroes and villains to really mix up the line.
