June 2008 Hasbro Star Wars Q&A (Part One)

June 2008 - Every couple of weeks, Hasbro will answer three questions per web site about their Star Wars products. Here are the questions and answers for the latest round:

1. Why all the "battle damage" and dirt marks painted on figures, especially Clone Troopers and Battle Droids? If you are going to do that, why not also make "clean" versions too as you did with the Battle Droids for Episode One?

Answer: The idea is that the Clone Wars were pretty gritty, but we agree that we could use more clean figures in the lineup and that's something we'll look to do more in the future.

2. Can we assume that because astromech and protocol droids are being built during The Legacy Collection via pack-ins, there will be no astromech droids or protocol droids sold separately in packaging as part of The Legacy Collection? In addition, will the build-a-droids from The Legacy Collection have biographies on their series' packages or on hasbro.com or anywhere, as they are rather obscure and many collectors would like to know how each fits into the Star Wars Universe?

Answer: There will still be the occasional droid in the Legacy Collection/Droid Factory waves. Great idea on making sure we get the "new" Droid's bios out there somehow on starwars.hasbro.com.

3. Will Hasbro make 12" Star Wars figures again?

Answer: It's something we are evaluating, but we don't have a decision on whether we will pursue. In the meantime, we are enjoying the tremendous work that Sideshow is doing with the 12" figure line.
