Chicagoland LEGO Junior Constructor Team Sought

Got LEGO Talent? Apply for 'Junior Constructor Team' by April 15

Five Consultants 7-12 Sought for New Chicago-Area LEGOLAND Discovery Centre

CHICAGO -- March 11, 2008 -- Calling all junior LEGO builders! LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Chicago/Schaumburg, a giant indoor LEGO world scheduled to open near Woodfield Shopping Center in August, is seeking five LEGO enthusiasts ages 7 to 12 to serve on a Junior Constructor Team that will help design the attractions at the facility as well as participate in special team events. Entries are due by April 15.

Team members will be asked to provide feedback on the various LEGO activities and adventures being created for the site, as well as receive hands-on training from master LEGO builders to hone their skills (and have fun!). The team will meet several times both before and after opening day. Each team member will also receive a free annual pass and a discount on birthday parties held at the facility.

Interested LEGO fans must submit their name, street address, city, phone number, age, and a photo of an original LEGO model they have built, plus a short statement explaining why they are the best candidates for the Junior Constructor Team. Entries can be mailed to "LEGOLAND Junior Constructor Team," c/o SS/PR, 2700 Patriot Blvd., Suite 430, Glenview, IL 60026, or emailed to [email protected].

Winners will be announced on May 1. Entrants must be 7-12, live in the Chicago metropolitan area, and be available to participate in team activities. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, skill and enthusiasm.

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Chicago/Schaumburg will be a 30,000-square-foot indoor attraction modeled after a prototype that debuted in Berlin last year. Located at the Streets of Woodfield shopping center in Schaumburg, it will provide several hours of family entertainment centered around the iconic interlocking colored bricks.

Activities will range from hands-on LEGO model building and unusual construction challenges to theme park-like attractions such as a dragon ride, adventure trail, and 4D cinema incorporating fantastical LEGO creatures and LEGO-based special effects. Other highlights will include a DUPLO play area for younger children, birthday party rooms, a LEGO cafe, a LEGO store, and a special room with rotating exhibitions of work by master LEGO builders.
