Cabbage Patch Kids at Burger King

Cabbage Patch Kids® Celebrate 25 Years with a One-of-a-Kind, Year-Long Birthday Celebration!

Play Along® Introduces New Additions to the CPK Family, including a Special Commemorative 25th Anniversary 'Kid

BURGER KING® Restaurants & Carvel® kick off Festivities

NEW YORK -- February 11, 2008 -- It's been 25 years since the Cabbage Patch Kids® first burst onto the scene, creating a retail frenzy unlike any other. With 115 million 'Kids™ adopted since 1983, the Cabbage Patch Kids continue to strike a chord with parents and children as one of the most recognizable and beloved children's properties of all time. In celebration of their 25th anniversary in 2008, licensing and marketing agent 4Kids Entertainment, Inc., along with property owner Original Appalachian Artworks Inc. (OAA) and master toy licensee, Play Along®, a division of JAKKS Pacific, Inc., are kicking off a year-long celebration in honor of these one-of-a-kind 'Kids, with new additions to the Cabbage Patch Kids family and an array of exciting partnerships.

"We are delighted to celebrate the success of the Cabbage Patch Kids, which for 25 years has stood as one of the most successful toy brands of all time," said Alfred R. Kahn, Chairman and CEO of 4Kids Entertainment. "Our licensing, promotional and retail partners will make 2008 a banner year for this iconic property and introduce a whole new generation of fans to this American classic."

"Cabbage Patch Kids have become a cultural phenomenon," said David Gold, Marketing VP for Play Along. "In 2008, consumers will fall in love all over again with the collection of new and nostalgic 'Kids we will be offering for CPK fans throughout the year."

To kick-off the birthday festivities, Celebration Foods and the Carvel® brand have teamed up with the Cabbage Patch Kids and Play Along for a special 25th anniversary celebration launching this spring and continuing through fall 2008. The year-long cross promotions between Cabbage Patch Kids and Carvel will include TV and print ads, franchise and supermarket programs, online promos, in-pack sweepstakes and an exclusive Carvel ice cream-eating, celebration-themed Cabbage Patch Kid created by Play Along.

"Carvel Ice Cream was founded in 1934, so it seems appropriate that two long-time beloved brands would come together for this milestone celebration," said Carvel President Gary Bales. "The young and young-at-heart will enjoy this special edition doll now and for another 25 years to come."

The adorable Cabbage Patch Kids® Fun to Feed Baby magically licks a Carvel ice cream cone, and when the Baby's face gets all messy with sprinkles – just wipe the mess away with the accompanying magic washcloth! Like all Cabbage Patch Kids, the Fun to Feed Baby is one-of-a-kind and also comes with its own name, birth certificate and adoption papers. (SRP: $22.99, Ages 3+)

The second momentous item to commemorate the anniversary debuts this fall is the most anticipated Cabbage Patch Kid in twenty-five years and will reintroduce the world to the 'Kid that started it all. The Anniversary Cabbage Patch Kids® will bring back the magic of the "original" 1983 'Kids by replicating their vintage fashions, hairstyles and facial expressions! In beautiful keepsake packaging, these new 'Kids will each have a special "25th Anniversary" Xavier Roberts signature, and each will be accompanied by commemorative silver-stamped 25th Anniversary Birth Certificates and Adoption Papers. (SRP: $29.99, Ages 3+)

To keep the party going, Burger King Corporation (BKC) is launching a promotion almost as unique as the Cabbage Patch Kids themselves. Sixteen different Collectible Cabbage Patch Kids Minis will be available exclusively with the purchase of any BK® Kids Meal from February 11 through March 9, 2008 at participating BURGER KING® restaurants, or while supplies last. In-restaurant dates vary for participating markets.

In support of the Cabbage Patch Kids promotion, 4Kids Entertainment and BKC have developed an integrated media campaign which will include television spots, online content, in-restaurant signage and inclusion in the BURGER KING® Adventures Newsletter, which is distributed in participating BURGER KING® Restaurants across the country.

"It is rewarding to hear stories about the joy Cabbage Patch Kids continue to bring to their families after 25 years," said creator Xavier Roberts. "To celebrate more than 25 years of delivering fun, we plan to help create even more wonderful memories for our growing family. In addition to the celebrations with Play Along, Carvel and BURGER KING®, everyone is invited to bring their 'Kids and join us at our 2008 birthday party, scheduled for Sept. 20, at BabyLand General Hospital, home of the Cabbage Patch Kids, in Cleveland, Georgia."
