LEGO Systems, Inc. Launches New Constructible Board Game Based on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

ENFIELD, Conn., Oct. 2, 2012 -- LEGO Systems, Inc. today announced retail availability of LEGO® Games The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the newest addition to its portfolio of constructible board games based on the film premiering December 14, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM). The company will launch a virtual "Roll to Win Giveaway" on the LEGO Games Facebook page starting October 8, 2012.

Fans who are eagerly awaiting the film can now experience a most unexpected journey in the form of a board game that can be built, played and changed. True to the LEGO Games experience, players must first build the game and the die using the LEGO bricks and elements provided, then choose from microfigure characters Gandalf, Dwalin, Kili or Fili to search for 10 missing Dwarves and help Bilbo Baggins on his trek. The player who finds the most Dwarves wins the game. The newest addition to the LEGO Games collection, suggested for players ages seven and up, is now available in the board game aisles of most toy, discount merchandise and specialty stores nationwide for $34.99.

To celebrate the game's launch, the LEGO Games will host The Hobbit "Roll to Win Giveaway" on the LEGO Games' Facebook page. Beginning October 8, fans will be able to roll a virtual dice for the chance to win a variety of prizes, including a grand prize package of LEGO The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey board game, a LEGO Games gameplay hosting kit, all new LEGO The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey construction sets and two movie ticket vouchers to see the movie on the big screen.
