2006
Wizard World Chicago
The 2006 Wizard World Chicago convention ran from August 4 to 6, with a Premiere Night on August 3. According to the Wizard folks, who would know best, they set new attendance records with the 2006 show.
For the 2006 Wizard World Chicago, the feel of the exhibit floor changed a bit from past years: there were fewer toy companies exhibiting, but more video game companies and more entertainment companies. For example, Hasbro did not have a booth at this convention, but Spike TV had a prominent booth near in the front of the exhibit hall. So while you couldn't look at Hasbro's most recently announced toys and action figures, you could go to the Spike TV booth to meet TNA wrestlers and collect many different free items.
The toy companies who did exhibit in Chicago seemed to be showing only the same items that they had on display two weeks earlier in San Diego, with the exception of DC Direct, who unveiled four new items: a Lynda Carter Wonder Woman statue, a Wonder Woman vs Superman statue, a 13-inch Martian Manhunter collector figure, and the Spawn vs Batman statue.
The two Wonder Woman statues each have a suggested retail price of $195. The Lynda Carter Wonder Woman statue was sculpted by Tim Bruckner and is due to be released in April 2007. The Wonder Woman vs Superman statue is due to be released in the Second Quarter of 2007.

Wizard World Chicago is one of two major summer comic book conventions at which toy companies have on display some of their new collectibles, toys, and action figures. (The other convention being the San Diego Comic Con.)
