DISNEY & PLAYMATES TOYS CREATE NEW PLAY POSSIBILITIES FOR FAVORITE DISNEY PRINCESS CHARACTERS

Disney Princesses

NEW YORK (American International Toy Fair, Feb. 10, 2002) - This fall, for the first time ever, the Disney Princesses will share their "Before Once Upon a Time" and "Happily Ever After" fairy tales with little girls in a brand new collection of large and small dolls from Playmates Toys.

New for 2002 are the Disney Magic Talk Princess Figures and Playsets, where the Disney Princess small dolls come to life and interact with their environments; a magical Tinker Bell feature large doll who reacts to sound activation; and the latest in Playmates' top-selling series of story-telling dolls, My Interactive Princess Belle.

Also new, is the Disney Little Princesses assortment of companion dolls from Playmates where for the first time, the classic Disney Princesses are depicted as toddlers. A whole new look with a world of new play opportunities await little girls!

"Our lineup of Disney Princess dolls and playsets brings home the special Disney magic," said Lori Farbanish, vice-president of girl's toys, Playmates Toys. "Disney's enchanting characters and voices and our ability to give the characters life through proprietary toy technology has proven to be a winning combination, and we look forward to continued success in the girls' category this year."

"Happily Ever After"

Playmates Toys introduces the new small doll collection-Disney Magic Talk Princess Playsets and Figure Pack Assortments. For the first time, Disney Princess small dolls come to life in their own voices and interact with each other in highly detailed, interactive playsets. Each of the beautifully sculpted articulated 5" figures "speaks" when placed upon special resistors found on the playsets.

Individual figure packs of Cinderella, Belle, Ariel and Snow White (each at retail August 2002, $7.99) come with accessories and environmental play pieces that complement their stories. Each figure comes to life in her own character voice when placed in any of the three interactive Disney Magic Talk Princess Playsets:

"Before Once Upon A Time"

What were the Disney Princesses like as little girls? Now, young girls everywhere who love the stories of Cinderella, Belle or Ariel will now have Disney Princesses their own age to play with!

Playmates introduces Little Ariel, Little Belle, and Little Cinderella - the first ever assortment of large companion dolls in the likeness of the Disney Princesses as toddlers! These Disney Princesses are cute, young girls who love to dress up, go to parties, and play with special friends like you!

Each 15" large doll looks as the Disney Princess might have before her "once upon a time" story began; and comes with themed accessories to participate in every little girl's favorite pastimes! Little Princess Ariel (at retail February 2002, $17.99), wearing her removable fin with cute bathing suit underneath, is ready for tropical fun in the sun; Little Princess Cinderella (at retail August 2002, $17.99) is ready for a birthday party in her signature blue gown; and Little Princess Belle (at retail August 2002, $17.99), in her beautiful yellow evening dress, is ready for a tea party for two!

Tinker Bell

Playmates Toys 2002 Disney collection introduces "Believe in the Magic" Tinker Bell - a large feature doll that brings the `pixie's' personality to life.

The 15" sculpted Tinker Bell doll with beautiful iridescent wings (at retail August 2002, $19.99) will shine as brightly as she does on screen. Tinker Bell is truly happy when she is paid attention to - and what better attention than from a little girl! Through sound activation, Tinker Bell's cheeks will happily glow and she will chime with "pixie speak" when a girl plays with her! A motion sensor will allow Tinker Bell to know when she's "flying up" or "flying down," activating twinkling sound effects.

My Interactive Princess Belle

Following 2001's successful My Interactive Princess Cinderella, the beautifully sculpted My Interactive Princess Belle doll (at retail August 2002, $49.99) allows a little girl to become part of Belle's fairytale!

The girl can wear her very own matching rose necklace, as she becomes part of the fantasy in two modes of play. The first mode of play takes Belle and the little girl through the Beast's castle, introducing them to the enchanted characters along the way - Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Lumire and the all-knowing Magical Mirror. As they explore each room in the castle - Belle and the little girl are together when Belle first meets the Beast!

The second mode of play finds Belle preparing for the ball. The little girl can decorate Belle's ballgown with rosettes and help Belle get ready to meet the Beast for an enchanted evening! The nervous Belle also receives encouraging advice from the other characters along the way.

Throughout the interactive play, Belle asks the little girl for one of her many character or fashion accessories. Resistors allow Belle to recognize if she's been given the correct item, and Belle responds appropriately. Open, engaging and imaginative play leads to happily ever after endings.

Disney Waterbabies

The unbeatable combination of Disney characters and Playmates' Waterbabies was a big hit in 2001.

New for 2002 are additional lovable Waterbabies in the following character outfits: Piglet (from the world of Winnie the Pooh), Lucky ("101 Dalmatians"), ( at retail spring 2002,$17.99) , and Simba ("The Lion King") and Thumper ("Bambi") (at retail fall 2002,$17.99). Each comes with an exclusive character-themed rattle.
