Hasbro To Take Toy Fair Attendees On A Journey With New Toys From Walt Disney Pictures' Treasure Planet

February 2002 - Walt Disney Pictures' TREASURE PLANET will debut on November 27th and Hasbro, Inc. will expand the movie's magic into kids' playrooms with a line of exciting action figures and fun playsets.

Based on one of the greatest adventure stories ever told -- Robert Louis Stevenson's TREASURE ISLAND -- this new animated space adventure follows fifteen-year-old Jim Hawkins' fantastic journey across a parallel universe aboard a glittering solar space galleon in search of the legendary "loot of a thousand worlds." Befriended by the ship's charismatic Cyborg (part man, part machine) cook John Silver, Jim blossoms under his guidance, and shows the makings of a fine spacer as he and the alien crew battle supernovas, black holes and ferocious space storms. But even greater dangers lie ahead when Jim discovers that his trusted friend Silver is actually a scheming pirate with mutiny in mind.

TREASURE PLANET was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, the team responsible for THE LITTLE MERMAID, ALADDIN and HERCULES, and features the vocal talents of Emma Thompson, David Hyde Pierce, Martin Short, Brian Murray and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

TREASURE PLANET BASIC ACTION FIGURES are a collection of six characters from the film. Each character is 4" to 5" in height and comes with cool action features and accessories. And, as an added value, each figures also has a plastic Morph (the Legacy's mascot) � open it up to reveal a surprise accessory. TREASURE PLANET ELECTRONIC LAUNCHIN' SOLAR SURFER allows you to be in the driver's seat! Jim can stand on the surfer and cruise around on its wheels and, with the push of a button, the surfer launches with real engine-firing sound effects. TREASURE PLANET BLASTIN' ACTION BATTLE STATION lets kids recreate all the exciting battle scenes from the movie using 4-5" action figures. Or, you can launch from one of the spring launchers on either side of the BLASTIN'ACTION BATTLE STATION.
