Quick question, i did see an animated atrocitus prototype figure on ebay when i was llooking up jlu figures on ebay. So is there a line of gl figures going to be released? Did i miss pictures from Toyfair from this year?

They look to be in some what near the scale of the jlu figures.

Around Toy Fair, Mattel's answer was no. But when recently asked, they said

We are in discussions to determine what a GLA line could look like and how it could fit within our DC portfolio.

I seem to recall a Zilious Zog prototype showing up, as well. I'm going to be really upset if, after decades of being a Green Lantern fan, we finally have a GL animated series and I get no figures. It was bad enough with the Legion, another big favorite of mine, but not getting any GL figures off the first GL TV series will be just flat out cruel.

I have a feeling that retailers are a bit leery of toys based on Cartoon Network properties because CN is so sporadic in showing episodes of so many of their shows. Tcats wasn't even on the air when the toys premiered, and Young Justice ran into similar problems.

To be fair, I think the biggest problem with the Young Justice line is they never made Superboy, Kid Flash and Robin available as singles at the same time. That was just silly.

I think that retailers may be wary because of just how well the last series of Green Lantern (the movie) figures sold. Toys R Us still has quite a few of them clinging to the pegs.

THere are other factors, certainly. The GL movie didn't go over well, or it's merchandise. Young Justice suffered from looking like Happy Meal toys for 10 bucks with the big Hall of Justice piece that justified the price hidden behind a piece of cardboard (worst packaging idea I've ever seen). But the pattern of late has been consistently bad for CN's action shows. Generator Rex sagged after one wave, Tcats future from Bandia is still up in the air as far as any new product goes, Secret Saturdays came and went in a blink, and a couple other CN properties I don't follow seem to have barely even gotten out of the gate on the toy shelves.

Point is, CN properties do not have a constant media back-up for the most part. Ben 10 does well, and always has, but a large part of that is because CN constantly runs it in its many incarnations; it's basically always on the schedule, even if it's not always new episodes. CN's other shows, though, can disappear for months on end, making those properties a lot less attractive to retailers.
