WWF Finishing Moves

jakks_wwf_finishing_pkg.jpg - 20109 Bytes JAKKS Pacific is a company that won't settle for the status quo, and continues to strive to make their products better and better. JAKKS red-hot line of action figures and products based on the World Wrestling Federation is a perfect example of this. If you were to take one of JAKKS current WWF action figures, and stand it next to one from just 2 years ago you would probably think they were from two different companies.

JAKKS was already enjoying tremendous success with its WWF figures, popularly referred to as "Bone Crunching Action" figures, when it decided to take the line to the next level in late 1999 with the debut of the Titan Tron Live line.

The new figures boasted improved articulation and far better sculpting than their predecessors, but were met with a degree of resistance from die-hard collectors who had a collection full of the Bone Crunching figures.

However, the new style was here to stay and proved very successful for the company. Not content to let sleeping dogs lie, JAKKS took the line to the next level when they began implenting the Real Scan technology to achieve uncanny likenesses to the actual WWF Superstars.

Beginning with some of the new figures released in the Fall of 2000 JAKKS began adding elbow articulation, something that was sorely missing previously.

But, that still wasn't good enough for JAKKS.

The company will soon be releasing its new WWF Finishing Moves assortment. These new two packs, which take the place of the Double Slam two-packs, feature new body styles that have an astounding 19 points of articulation and are able to duplicate the unique finishing moves utilized by the various wrestlers in the WWF.

The first series features 3 sets of WWF Superstars: Jeff and Matt Hardy, The Rock vs. Triple H and Chris Jericho vs. Kurt Angle.

The kind folks at JAKKS Pacific graciously supplied RTM with a preview sample of the Chris Jericho vs. Kurt Angle set, which of course we handed right over to the monkeys in the RTM Toy Testing Labs for their reaction.

Here's a run-down on the articulation on these new figures: ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, mid-biceps, elbows, wrists, mid-torso, waist, ball-jointed hips, knees, mid-calf (top of the boot), and ankles. While some collectors might complain that the added articulation detracts from the sculpt of the figure, the RTM Toy Testings showed that the added playability provided by the superior articulation more than makes up for any sculptural intrusions.

The new figures also are Tron-Ready, meaning the figures can interact with JAKKS playsets that use the Titan Tron Ready technology, such as the Titan Tron Playset and the Trash Talkin' Stage.

So, now that JAKKS action figures have incredible likenesses, superior articulation and a touch of interactivity, where can they go from here? Time will tell, but we are anxious to see what cool innovation JAKKS Pacific comes up with next.
