Scott Summers Legacy

As one of Professor Xavier's first students, Scott Summers helped found the X-Men. His mutant ability to convert solar energy into powerful optic blasts confines him to wearing ruby quartz lenses at all times, or risk injuring everyone around him. The visor he wears in the field has earned him the codename Cyclops. Bred to become the leader of the X-Men, Summers has donned several different uniforms.

CYCLOPS 1967

Early in their heroic adventures, Professor Xavier allowed Jean Grey to design new costumes for the team. Cyke's uniform was very practical and streamlined, reminiscent of their original uniforms. It featured a skullcap and cuffed boots, with a classic dark blue and yellow scheme. First appearance: Uncanny X-Men #39, art by George Tuska

ULTIMATE CYCLOPS 2001

In an alternate Marvel Universe, Cyclops still leads the X-Men. The team is similarly trained to be proactive in their defense of mutants, and their militaristic uniforms reflect that. Cyclops wears several belts with pouches over a sleek, black uniform with army-style boots. First Appearance: Ultimate X-Men #1, art by Adam Kubert

UNSTOPPABLE CYCLOPS 2007

During a recent adventure, it was suggested that Summers' inability to control his optic blasts is more a psychological setback than a physical one. Throughout this mission, Cyclops sports a combination of his previous and current costumes: a black leather jacket over his dark blue spandex uniform, without his visor! First Appearance: Astonishing X-Men #17, art by John Cassaday
