Hasbro: Nursery Rhymes Games

HASBRO BRINGS TO LIFE FUN AND FAMILIARITY OF NURSERY RHYMES WITH MILTON BRADLEY GAMES

East Longmeadow, MA (January 28, 2003) The fun and familiarity of those favorite childhood nursery rhymes comes to life in Milton Bradley's collection of Nursery Rhyme Games. Each game offers parents the opportunity to share some of their favorite nursery rhymes with their preschooler. The success of the WHEELS ON THE BUS Game and the OLD MACDONALD HAD A FARM Game prompted the introduction of some new Milton Bradley Nursery Rhyme Games from Hasbro, Inc.

In 2003, Hasbro introduces STORYTIME GAME WITH MOTHER GOOSE™ and ABC SONG™ Game. Both combine the innovation of electronics with the familiarity of nursery rhymes in a platform that not only entertains, but also teaches youngsters the importance of taking turns and good sportsmanship.

In addition, the line has expanded to include a selection of games at various prices and a new assortment of musical puzzles.

STORYTIME GAME WITH MOTHER GOOSE™ (Ages:3 -6; Players: 2 -4 ; Approximate Retail: $19.99; Available: Summer 2003)

The STORYTIME GAME WITH MOTHER GOOSE™ transforms four classic nursery rhyme songs into engaging sing-a-long games. A plastic, electronic Mother Goose directs players in three different games and in singing the following nursery rhymes: Jack and Jill; Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star; Hickory Dickory Dock; and Humpty Dumpty. In one of the games, players move around the game board and collect different nursery rhyme pages. They place the pages on Mother Goose's book, and she then reads the title of the nursery rhyme. When a player completes a set, the music begins and everyone can sing along with Mother Goose to the nursery rhyme.

ABC SONG™ Game (Ages: 3 - 6; Players: 2 -4 ; Approximate Retail: $19.99; Available: Summer 2003)

The ABC SONG Game is the musical alphabet game that teaches children their ABC's and how to recognize letters. There are three levels of play - the first level requires the player to find letters that are all face-up, the second game requires the child to find letters that are face-down and the third has an additional memory component. All the while, an animated, electronic owl guides the preschoolers in game play and sing-a-along. The player to get the last letter (Z) in place is rewarded with the owl singing the alphabet song.

CAT AND THE FIDDLE™ Game (Ages: 3 - 6; Players: 2-4; Approximate Retail: $12.99; Available: Summer 2003)

In the CAT AND THE FIDDLE™ Game players select one of four decorative pawns -- the Cat and the Fiddle, the Cow, the Moon, or the Dish -- and move around the game board collecting spoons. The spoons, placed in the middle of the board, are obtained when a player spins the spinner and has to jump over an opposing player to get to the next space indicated on the spinner. The player who collects the most spoons wins the game.

A series of Nursery Rhyme Games at an approximate retail price of $5.99 each, for ages 3 to 6, for 2 to 4 players, are available now. The BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP™ Game engages preschoolers in a matching game where they must match the characters featured on the facedown cards in the middle of the game board with those characters that they land on. The player who makes the most matches wins the game. In the ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT™ Game, players travel along the game board collecting puzzle pieces. The first player to complete his or her puzzle wins. The last game in this series is the ITSY BITSY SPIDER™ Game, where players start with 9 tiles that are used to build their waterspouts. Each time a player spins the spinner and the spinner lands on a rainbow or image of the sun, the player adds a tile to his or her waterspout. If the spinner lands on a rain cloud, then the player's turn ends and the next player spins the spinner. The player to complete his or her waterspout first wins.

NURSERY RHYME MUSICAL Puzzles (Ages: 3 - 6; Players: 1 or more; Approximate Retail: $14.99; Available: Fall 2003)

Building on the success of its line of Milton Bradley Nursery Rhyme Games, Hasbro introduces a line of NURSERY RHYME MUSICAL puzzles. Each puzzle consists of 15 pieces with eight various sounds that pertain to the specific puzzle scene.

Preschoolers will enjoy putting these puzzles together, as they press various pieces of the puzzle to unveil a new sound. Once the last piece of the puzzle is put in place and pressed, the puzzle comes to life and rewards the preschooler with the complete Nursery Rhyme song from the puzzle scene.

The NURSERY RHYME MUSICAL puzzles are available in four different scenes including OLD MACDONALD HAD A FARM, HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE, JACK & JILL, and 1, 2 BUCKLE MY SHOE.
